Greetings All,

Just wanted to let all of you know I am doing a huge car show/shoot at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn this upcoming Sunday. A few friends of mine who do video met a group at the Javits Cars Show that have a high end car club.

Originally they were only going to do some video, but we ended up renting a hanger for the day at FBF. I will be shooting 30 cars in a studio type setting with models and everything. While that is going on my video friend will be staging "pretend" races on several of the air strips doing video for a future dvd.

Any advice on lighting would be great. I have already decided to rent a lighting set up consisting of 3 heads (2500 Watts Each) and 3 insanely huge soft boxes. I will have about 4 hours to setup and use my car as a test bed to remove any unwanted reflections and glare.

I can't wait!!!

Thanks,
CP

Oh, I know it can be done. The photo booth at Barrett-Jackson is a regular production line. But with models and three soft boxes???

Thawley - who remembers how bad things sometimes got when I said "day-rate" instead of "photo-fee"...

LOL. You guys are making me nervous. Besides I am setting up at 8AM and the cars don't arrive until noon. I am also photographing the girls the day before in studio, posed for cut outs if need be.

I got it covered...

Is this field open to the public? I always wanted to try it out but I was afraid driving up there for an hour and not being able to shoot? I hear that large car clubs go up there to make hi speed runs on the runway. I can't imagine this is legal though. I think it would make a GREAT backdrop for some shots.

Sorry guys. The shoot was canceled last minute by the car club. Apparently there was some politics involved and they had to cancel. Sorry it took me so long to post an update, I've been busy.

Peter,

The field is open to the public but requires a permit to shoot. The permit fees for commercial use are as follows:

$150.00 Application Fee
$100.00 Permit Fee
$50.00 Per hour Hanger Rental Fee

It's a cool place to shoot, but can get expensive. If you want more info e-mail me and I will send you my contact's phone number.

Thanks,
CP
