Figure I would share some of my own photos from the Utah Grand Prix. I had the honor of sitting next to John Thawley in the media center and was privalged to see some of the shots he posted here on his laptop shortly after he took them.

With that said, I'll admit up front that some of my shots & compesitions were inspired by his shots. Although, I think his are light years better than mine.

This being the first major race I've photographed, I'm happy with most of my results.

Anyway, for the shots. Most have been cropped, but color correction was kept to a minimum.

It looks like someone's hand or arm got in front of your lens in #1.

I really like the composition in #7.

There's something about #4 that catches my eye. For some reason, I find myself fast forwarding 20 years from now and seeing that image as a historical reference to the action in SPEED World Challenge. It's like you could almost drop some Trans-Am cars from the 70's into that shot... it just looks historical. I like it.

You're a tad soft on #5. and I'd try to keep the lens up... you've got the "thirds" right as far as left and right of the frame, but vertically, you're still hanging most things in the center. Your stronger shots all feature the car down low.

Good meeting you and best of luck.
