Great stuff... I really like the tight stuff!

What position were you in relation to the bikes, and with what focal lengths were you shooting, for the shots like #1 and #3? I've always found it difficult to "get ahead" of the riders for these shots... and shooting from the far side of the track isn't really an option due to the large run-offs.

I used a 1D mkII with a 70-200 f4 L, a 17-40 f4 L and for some pics a x1.4 extender.

Here are the exif data :

1- 200mm, 1/500s, f7.1, 100iso

2- 40mm, 1/80s, f20, 100iso

3- 280mm, 1/1000s, f5.6, 100iso

4- 280mm, 1/500s, f5.6, 200iso

5- 200mm, 1/250s, f7.1, 50iso


For #1 and #3, the point is that you can get very close to the track in few corners (about 2 meters) :)

Well done! A good example of how knowing the track and taking advantage of where the riders come close can make up for not having focal length.
