I like how the driver has the "lean" going on...

maybe its the jpeg compression but the quality of the photo seems off

Maybe it's my "Status Symbol" laptop?

Trust me... it's not OFF.

Looks pretty damn "ON" to me.

Nice shot JT. What a great opportunity to shoot an amazing piece of engineering.

I love how it has 1001 hp. 'Cuz 1000 wasn't enough. Reminds me of the scene from Spinal Tap where the Amps go all the way up to 11.:D

Great job. It seems that rolling shots are becoming one of your specialties.:)

Nice :-D

1000hp, is that at the motor, or at the wheels?

As always, at the flywheel(engine).

for me, it's the dark halo around the driverside front of the car. Clean that mask up, and I think that would finish the photo :)

There is no masking, Daniel. This shot was adjusted for brightness, levels etc. Wasn't even cropped.

must be a strange shadow then, oh well :-)

Would have been fun to be on this shoot. I saw the car in the parking lot. Somehow my pictures are nowhere near this exciting :)

Nice job JT.

I wouldn't know, I use a pc =)

ok well it looked a little wierd to me
almost like a noise reduction was applied or the jpeg compression

cool shot though

Steve, my reference was to your comment on the Mac / PC thread. Honest, I've never heard such a ridiculous statement as a computer being a status symbol.

Anyway... no noise reduction.

anything can be a status symbol
it just depends on how much importance you put on that "something"
and I feel people put way too much importance on having a "mac"
to be different, to be original, to be cool
yet at the end of the day its all about what you get out of it

the same can be said for cameras and lens's
tons of "photographers" are nothing more then gadget freaks
trading in their 3 month old camera for the new and better version just because they think they need it
sure if you put it all to use and get the best out of what you have, all the more power to you
some people actually do that, but sadly that isn't always the case

I don't think you're qualified to make such a broad statement... though, sure, we are living in a "brand" concious sociiety.

Regardless, there are also people who buy and us Macs, and other superior products for the simple reason they feel it is a better product. I've spent ample time with both Macs and PCs. For me, it's a slam dunk.

Anyway... this discussion can play out on the other thread.

Everyone is "qualified" to have an opinion.

No... everyone is ENTITLED to an opiinion.. we as individuals must decide whether or not it is a "qualified" opinion. Kind of the same as "beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder."

Doesn't our opinion on whether they are qualified to have an opinion, then need to be qualified by further opinion?

hey if you don't think I can make that statement
so be it

I will boldy accept your opinion on the matter

Well, Steve IMO, is one of the more qualified people on this forum, but I qualify myself to disagree with his statement :p
I'd say there are far more PC users that bought their machine out of some sort of gadget fetish

Shot looks good JT, I like how it fades off into brightness at the top right.

My nitpicks are that the window is down, two people in the car (one is better), the driver appears to be looking at you, and the sun visors are down

What were you shooting it for?

Paul Hansen

My picknitting was that I wasn't the one driving the car, as the shot definitely might have been more exciting. That, of course, is in my quantified opinion.

I don't think my grotty 3-yr old mac powerbook qualifies for a status symbol, but it does keep on trucking. I should really hose it out someday, need to quit using it as a picnic table.

It's for the guy driving it. :) So... he can look at me all he wants, keep is window down and use the visor. :) Seriously, though... good points, but they would have fallen on deaf ears. He's have killed himself with out the visors.. we're in the desert and it was about 7:39PM. We were getting killed with our own shadow half the time. Also... I did 8 cars in less than a half hour. All in all, for a spray and pray session, they worked out well.

Thanks,

JT

It does look like a missed opportunity to have not gotten all the detail in that sky. The right ND grad could have made it so much more... Its a nice shot as is, but bringing that sky in would have made it KILLER.

ND filters are on my must-have list. I've been slammed on the f stop a few times in the last month... and with nowhere to go. I actually wanted to get these down below a 40th sec. and coulnd't. Same with really slow pans.

I'm going to make some equipment changes in the next few weeks... so I'm going to sort that out.

Thanks

I thought the shutter speed was fine... I was taling about an ND graduate to darken the sky while leaving the car and the track surface the same. This is one taken with a straight ND Grad (no color)...
