Went on a "Family Adventures" quad/atv weekend away and was asked last minute to do some shooting for one of the local Dirt biking/Quading magazines, these are the first couple that I've edited, would like some thoughts and critique.

Hope these aren't too big not sure if the limit is on file size or pixel width, let me know if these are wrong and I'll link smaller ones.
Thanks in advance,

#2 is cool, but should have been much tighter.

A couple of shots of mine that have previously been published in the mag, likewise any thoughts or critiques appreciated!
Out of interest, generally for track work I use a slower shutter speed to create the sense of motion, however, with ATVs/Quads, they kick up so much dust and so dramatically show their own pace, that I tend to use faster shutter speeds to freeze the action, any thoughts on this?

6. - the Land Cruiser in this shot really bugs me, but it was an officials, and i think the shot works around it?

I really like #2... I actually liked how wide it was (prior to reading John's comment). I like the environment, action, and 'room to move into' in the frame. Well done.
I think #3 would have worked better with a slower shutter speed. I don't know if the ATV just slammed on it's breaks and was sliding to a stop, or if it's racing away in a cloud of dust.
I don't like #1 at all. The B&W make things really bland.

I disagree, #2 is perfect if you're in editorial/advertorial land - plenty'o'space for text...
#4 in batch #2 is very good and again, worthy of an advertorial..
But what do I know! Oh I jest!

Thanks for the comments guys!
In the 1st picture the guy was riding in someone else's dust, so I felt the b&w conversion might create a nice burnt out effect, I even enhanced it by burning sections not affected by the dust. Incidentally people either love it or hate it, I'm still not sure how I feel, going to play with the colour version a bit today. I think the small size does it no justice either as there is a lot of detail on the rider and bike. Thanks for the thoughts though.
Number 2 is actually an 8 year old girl if you'd believe that, after reading the comments, I still like the wide angle, but feel the crop should be a touch tighter to get rid of that tree branch in top left, should still set the scene nicely, and provide space for text as Andrew mentioned.
I see your point on number 3 Todd, the bike was racing past, but it does look a bit like it slammed on brakes. I'll keep this in mind in future!
Number 4 in the second batch is one of my favourite shots, we were shooting a test of the '06 Suzuki 400 last year, and I was lying on the floor getting the rider to land just next to my head, he is a very good friend of mine, so I trusted him, the results were great!

I really liked #2 the first time I saw it, just the way it is. If anything, having the subject in the extreme bottom right might be more interesting, but I'm not going to complain how it is.
I'm not sure what it is about #1. It seems like it was on the moon. Or is it just contrasty to my eye? I dunno, but it's not a favorite,
#6 and #7 are interesting shots, but I'm drawn to the truck and the houses.
#4 is far and away the best shot of the lot.
And if your pictures are getting sold, then you must be doing something right in terms of camera settings and composition.
