I thought I would share some good news..at least for me it is!
I guess you could say I had a workinging interview with Subiesport magazine. They wanted to see what kind of images I could get. In the end I was hoping they would like my work. I guess they must have 11 of my images made into the magazine, The event was Subiefest2 back in April at PIR. Almost forgot they misspelled my last name...Craiger
The opening spread for the article is one of my shots (white STI at speed)

Hope they paid ya... they still owe me money from '05... but I have given up on them. That was a 'live and learn' situation...

Sorry to hear you didn't get paid...that sucks! Yes they're going to pay but I think it's just a standard flat mag rate.

That's pretty discouraging :( I photograph for a hobby, but eventually I suspect I'll probably start actively trying to market myself for paying jobs if I ever get out of 3d. I'm sorry to hear about folks not paying, that is a shame, so many people think photographers just 'click the button' and the equipment does everything else. Don't think that photographers need to earn a living just like everyone else!

Subiesports a sort of special situation in terms of getting paid. It's an enthusiast publication with one owner/editor, and does not have the financial backing most of the other "big" publications have (that are mostly owned by Primedia). I've not been paid by them (him) either, but that's just a situation that happened when I was new in the field and didn't know which types of situation to avoid.
That said, another enthusiast publication in the same vein went so far as to send me a used 1d MII since they liked my work so much, so sometimes a bit of a gamble can be good. ;)
Cheers

lesson learned - get the amounts in writing beforehand so that you can take it to court later. All of our discussions were verbal, which made it hard to go back on things.
