I love the contrast of these images, and you found a location with tons of potential. The first one seems a little dark to me; the GTI kind of gets lost in the lean-to, I think. #4 (nose-to-nose) is really nice. The last one has promise (maybe if the car were completely in front of the silos), but as it is, I think the last silo rising up through the middle of the car and the telephone pole poking through the sunroof are distracting.
Nice work, Jake.

I guess i need to calibrate my monitors, some people are saying the photos are a bit dark and i see them as being ok.
thanks again.

I'm using a POS Thinkpad at work. I'll look again at home on my MacBook. Neither are calibrated, however.
The pics do seem a little dark overall, but I think it works well for that setting. #1 is just a little *too* dark. Nice saturation and contrast, but the brightness is a little low, I guess. With #2, the GTI seems a little soft; the front wheel should really be sharp, in my opinion.

All of them look too dark for me. Certainly too dark for print publication.
This one seems odd to me for lack of a highlight on the passenger side. Did you use a polarizer to get ride of it?

There's just no highlight on the side of the car. The shoulder or belt-line just morphs into a black, shapless panel. Normally, there's a highlight reflecting the sky along the top of the panel. But somehow you've killed it.
You kids and your Photoshop... Sheeesh.

is there any software out there that I can use to calibrate my monitors?
thanks

You need to get a spider/coloremeter to read it. X-Rite makes one. I have a Monaco. Some of the better camera stores will rent them. If you have an LCD screen you really don't have to do it every often...

A good looking set! I agree that the images are a little dark. Brighten it up a tad and they'll have a better pop to it. Very cool photos!
BTW, I see some of your work on VWVortex from your friends posting up. They look pretty good. There's a couple of motion photos I thought were pretty good. This one is nice
