I'm looking for some dynmaic range help, and I suspect there is a photoshop plug-in or "filter" to assist with this. Velvia Vision has a setting, but it doesn't seem to offer enough effect for my tastes (and it is difficult to isolate the color saturation effects from the dynamic range benefit). I also use LuscisArt, but it almost overdoes it, and does some funky things to the colors.
Anyway, is there a PS filter or action that many of you use to get that "compressed dynamic range" look? I use PS 7, by the way.
Thanks!

Digital Film Tools had a selective saturation filter that was really nice. I used to use Fred Miranda's Velvia plug-in but ended up liking the DFT set much better. It's part of their set called 55mm.

well, if you like Fred's plugins, why not try his Dynamic Range plugin? :D

When I'm shooting a black (or dark) car against a sunset, I usually have to shoot two shots to get the exposure all there. I blend them by hand, more control than a plugin will give you. Never used Fred's DRI plugin, but it's cheap , so probably worth a try. :)

I bought the Photomatix plug-in for CS2 and haven't touched it since I bought it. Expensive too, but results are extremely unnatural :( http://www.hdrsoft.com/

Well, I figured the DRI plugin was the same as what's included with the VelviaVision plugin.
To further clarify: I'm looking for a pugin that "simulates" the effects with one exposure. If I have the opportunity, I bracket exposures and merge them by hand. However, "action" shots do not allow that luxury.
