...anyone know when this little wonder is hitting these shores?

(Fingers crossed it's before I head off to OZ..)

I'm sorry, I know this isn't adding much, but I saw a discussion yesterday that implied the person was expecting theirs on the 15th.

It should be in my grubby little hands on the 18th...along with two 4GB SD cards...

Actually kinda excited to have something so compact and IMO quite powerful - I've been waiting for them to bring back the RAW file creation and they did!

We'll see what it can do....

I've been wanting a compact, high-capability P&S for some time now, too. I was eyeing the Panasonic with RAW (I forget the model number; it's one of the badge-engineered Leicas) and was planning on going that route, especially after OS X was updated to support the RAW files in Aperture. Now I guess I should wait and see how it compares to the G9. Unless one drops precipitously in price in the near future, however, I'm probably just going to hold off for a while. I want a 40D, now. :)

I have the old G5 and it's a wonderful camera. I'm often tempted to take it with me... but my Leica D-Lux 3 wins out due to size... and I like the 16:9 "letterbox" format. But, sometimes it does lack a little heft. And of course, the noise in anything over 200 ISO is scary. But the convenience is nice.

I may have to get a G9 anyway. Looks like a great camera.
