it's a 6" Woods Powr suction cup: http://cinemasupplies.stores.y....html (http://cinemasupplies.stores.yahoo.net/6woodpowgrip.html)

A Bogen 3059B lateral arm: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bn...ation (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=5314&is=REG&addedTroughType=categoryNavigation)

And a Bogen 488 Ball Head: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bn...ation (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=272778&is=REG&addedTroughType=categoryNavigation)

I also use a ballast sandbag over the arm (opposite the camera) to dampen vibration.

And, as it would be mounted on a car:

**Note the high visibility saftey retainer lanyard. I use this since I'm using a head with a quick release just for the peace of mind.

I haven't gone nuts shooting with this setup because I haven't had much time, but it is extremely easy and quick to setup. I'll be shooting with it and my larger rig eztensively this weekend so I should have better examples next week.

the car doesn't look bad (looks sharp!) but the background has alot of oddities? this can't be from camera shake, cause the car appears to be crisp. wonder whats going on?

nice. i might try this out.

i dont necessarily shoot auto too too much so if you have info on where to purchase some sandbags for this and other counterweight uses and what exactly to use as the safety cable thatd be great.

It looks like the car was passing by a house with a white van parked in front of it, and a car going to opposite direction. The road might not have been smooth at that time either, and that's what's going on with the background on the left side of the image.

Portable and simple, but you sacrifice versatility and reach. There's only going to be so many shots that you can achieve with that rig, and none of them will include much of the car at any appealing angles.

Might be exactly what I need to shoot an open cockpit LMP car for driver shots. :)

The best place I've seen to buy sand bags is actually on ebay. Amvona sellst their zippered cordura bags there for about $20 per pair, just search for "sand bag" in the photo section. Alternatively you can buy them from Amvona.com or get Avenger brand bags from B&H photo, but it's much more expensive than ebay.

The safety retainer I made myself using some nylon line and a couple of snap carabiners. Available at home depot for a total of about $4. And actually, I've found Home Depot is one of the best places to go for gaff/grip supplies. Spring clamps are only $0.99!
