I was surprised to see that there wasn't a thread about Sebring yet.

Next year I hope to get my press pass, but I still had a great time and was able to get some decent shots.

John's thread about the 40D and high ISO made me consider shooting at beyond 800 ISO for a change. Well because I was just hanging out and relaxing the majority of Saturday, I only pulled the camera out as the sun was going down. This forced me to shoot in very little light, but I was relatively happy with the results. I got the shots I needed for work the day before, so Saturday was my day to have a good time.

I learned that a 200mm lens just wont cut it for most of the track, so I will be investing in a 400 or 500mm lens at some point.

The day shot is actually at near sunset with heavy cloud cover, as you can tell buy the shadow. The last shot was taken when it was total darkness so the light for turn 16 was the only thing I had to work with. I enjoyed shooting at night, even though I wasn't able to select my shutter the way I like to.

Feel free to C&C.

Really love the glowing rotor shots along with 3 and 6...

If I also may ask, you say the 200mm was not long enough, what lens did you end up shooting with or did you just stick to areas reachable and crop-able for the 200mm ?

Thanks.

The last shot was cropped. I think a 400mm lens would have put me closer to the cars and allowed me to get what I wanted on corner 16.

The other shots are from corner 3. A 200mm was ample since you sit right on top of the track. I think I was shooting at 130mm or so when I was standing there so I could fill the frame up with the car. The departing sunset shot was at 200mm.

If you're shooting high ISO's and get noise, you might try noise Ninja.. See attached for effect..

David, that looks great. Thanks for the tip, I will be sure to use that in the future.
