Err...if possible, try and look past some of the reflections in the glass I messed up.

Hi, nice set over all, nothing too WOW though... You obviously know about the reflections, so won't mention those.

Too many distractions is 1, also don't like the angle the car is sitting at. 2 is good, snow on left and potholes in foreground a little distracting. 3 is great apart from the reflection. Don't see the link with the very distracting background in 4. 5 is good. 6 is a really great idea, but i think it needs a bit more steering wheel in it. 7 I don't like at all, what is it trying to show, and I can see your head in the reflection. 8 is good, a bit of a unflattering angle for the car though.

Hope that helps and you don't find it too harsh.

If John is going to be all warm and fuzzy, someone's going to have to pick up the torch...

Overall, the nice thing is the atmospheric light, the overcast was a nice choice for a midday shoot. I also appreciate the ambition shown in that many different locations, and the locations themselves are swell.

#1. Why is this car on dirt, with chunks of asphalt all over the place? That's the first thing I see. Then I start worrying about it getting a flat tire. Then I notice the tire tracks where you backed it up...

#2. Too close to that wall; the light patches on it make the car blend in rather than popping out. There's also a major horizontal feature in the wall that intersects badly with the top of the A-pillar. Shallower DOF needed.

#3. Things growing out of the roof of a car are bad. The stairs are great, the railings suck.

#4. I also don't understand the relationship between the car and the doorway. Maybe as part of a travelogue it'd make sense, but not on its own. I would have loved to see it one archway over in front of the black wall. VERY Car & Driver.

#5. See #3, Also crap on the ground is distracting, as are license plates. Always carry a a rake and push broom.

#6. My least favorite one. What are we supposed to be looking at here? The badge is too small and blown out to be distinct. Do you have one of those with the focus on the pedals and the badge out of focus?

#7. Even if I cared about warning stickers, I wouldn't like water spots.

#8. I really don't need to see the detail in that wall. It's darn interesting, sure, but that's not good when I'm supposed to care about the car. It's just buried under that mountain of texture. In fact. It's a void that the eye slides off. Pull it 20, 30, 50 feet off the wall and try again.

You've got a new car that you can start and move at will. When you've found a good background--and you did find a boatload of good backgrounds--then your work begins, not ends.

Now go look at some of my stuff & rip ME a new one.
