Heres some of what I shot today. No credentials, so all shot from spectator areas.

The action got off to a late start today: one of the jet blowers went out before the first practice of the day to blow any dirt/debris off the track..... he ran out of gas 3/4 of the way around...... Because he was leaking it: ALL OVER THE TRACK!!
Oops. So it took them about 1hr30min to clean up the mess. Lets hope tomorrow goes a little bit better.

Anyway here are some shots:

2, 4 & 7 are nice... 7 is pretty strong. 6 is on its way to having something going for too.

I'd say the two big issues with the rest are too dark... and just bikes on a track. Not a lot of draw....

Keep up the good work, though. You really got it going with 7 and you need to study #6. That one is trying to stand out.

Thanks John!

Do You think this could be remedied by shooting a little wider? Get a little more of the "atmosphere" that is Mid-Ohio in frame? Or do you mean more bike vs. bike action?

Believe it or not I had a heck of a time getting more than one bike in frame all day. Very little passing, at least where I was standing. I'm thinking due to practice/qualifying they were all just looking for clear track. Hopefully during the race there will be more opportunity for "action" shots,

Thanks for the input! I'll try and get up some Race shots tomorrow.:)

Looks like your learning curve continues to go up since that vintage event.

#1 needs to be sharper, but good thinking. Let the lead rider wander further to the right in the frame and maybe move the riders off the vertical centerline in either direction (probably introduce more sky).

I think when you're shooting a solo rider you need to bring the viewer in with tension. The struggle and man vs. machine aspet. Sure... we always like to bring the track in, but I'm not seeing anything here that isn anchor to the story. It's a bike going down the track. So at that point, I'd opt for closing in on the bike and rider. Packs are always nice... and if you're going to pull back and get the track... you need to really pull back. I'm thinking about the going away shot after the keyhole... you can get the distant countryside and that back grandstand... while keeping the bike in the forground. And don't forget the top of the hill in Madness.

Here's the going away after the keyhole:

Then coming over the top at Madness:

And, you can grab this from the fence just after the Honda bridge:

Good luck.
