Hey everyone finely made it away from the new house and made it to a race. Have to agree with John on the level of confusion this year at Long Beach, it's always bad, but this year... (must be something in the water down there) How many vests and wristbands can they get us to wear?

Great stuff Kurt. Looking at your stuff on Motorsport I really liked your location for the start... very clean views (and I had to laugh at all the people trying to hang off the towers on the pit island). I love the tight shots, of course, but the shot with the fountain/dolphins is my favorite... I never have been able to get that one to look anywhere that nice. Well done!

-Todd...

PS - Are you going to find yourself out west for any other events this year?

Thanks Todd, missed you at Long Beach this year. The Dolphin shot was shot from the stairs just off level 3 of the parking garage, I think I was always shooting it too high or from the landing in the past.

Yeah the start shot is so nice there the only problem is the standing start does not show a green flag, that will change next year.

I had to throw the tight shot in to drive John nuts ;)

I'm going to try to head out for IRL/GrandAm at Sears Point (hate calling it Infineon).

Nice Shots Kurt! Was there any way in #6 to move over so that thing isn't poking him in the eye?

And can you post the starting shot Todd is talking about? I'd love to check it out.

Really nice. I especially like the light in #4 and the Dominguez shot is great, too.

I've never done Long Beach but I keep hearing how big of mess it is with multiple credentials. Toronto was always like that, too, and for some reason those things never seem to get better.

I really like #4. And in fact, your #2 caught JT shooting the #7 shot he mentioned in his thread (http://community.automotivephoto.net/forums/showpost.php?p=13379&postcount=10). (It caught me standing next to him, too.)

I didn't even think about that being John, I had come down to that location just after shooting the Dolphin and John was just leaving.

Thanks #4 was also off the parking garage landing, 3rd floor I believe.

Aaron, here is the shot of the start from drivers left just down from start finnish a bit, with the curve of the track it makes a nice head on shot. I think there are 3 or four holes down there, get there early only about 1 1/2 shooters comfortably per hole :) (sorry John don't kill me for adding another image)

Turn 1 is such a crap shoot IMO plus I'm not a big fan of the shot from the tower. I would like to see the angle from the tower in the island, might be something to look into.

Humm you didn't like the steering wheel in the foreground on #6, I thought it just added to the frantic nature of the shot. Arms pulling down straps and stuff piled on the nose of the car getting ready to qualify. Though I can also see your point maybe if I had just moved a bit to the left on that one humm...

I actually think that is me in #2 shooting this shot.

Yeah, I started thinking that too. But the only thing I remember from #2 is your "discussion" with one of the security guys

If you're referring to the person in tan at the back of the hole, he's an event "official." He actually turned out to be a pretty reasonable guy. We had a discussion about my display of the blue vest as opposed to my not wearing it... he approached me a few minutes later and said, "I've gotta hunch you're right." And laughed.

Anyway, the hole I shot from was all the way prior to the apex turning into the fountain area. They were turning left "into" my right shoulder.
