It seems this week I have the humbling displeasure of following JT's post(s) of the recent SVRA event at Mid-Ohio. Again we had a great time running around and looking at new things, new angles, figuring out different takes on existing shots, etc...

We had the run of the place this weekend, more-so than usual, there was no one there, which was great for us, not so much for the track. The vacant camping areas opened up a few new shots that normally would be blocked by campers and RV's.

One of my goals for the weekend was to find shots with a vintage feel regarding backgrounds. i was looking for "clean" backgrounds, with a minimum of fencing, armco, port-a-pots, corner workers, and modern vehicles.

Unlike JT's excellent vintage styled shots, I really couldn't dial-in the look I was going for with the B&W's. In my defense: it was my first attempt at BW conversions, I do however appreciate any C&C you can pass on, especially concerning the conversions. Let'er Rip!

Great stuff, Chris. I'm not too experienced with B&W shots, but these look great to me.

1,3,and 5 are really cool.

Everything looks great, Chris. But, I gotta tell ya, the "money" shot is the people admiring the little Triumph. GREAT perspective. Really nice.

Some nice photos as always.

If you are using PS CS+ add a Channel mixer adjustment layer. Check the grey scale box and then adjust individual color channels until you are happy. Add a little noise and vignetting if you like. In this shot below, I also added quite a bit of contrast to block up the highlights and shadows with out losing all the details.

Hope you don't mind me posting a sample image in your thread.

Keith, Thanks for suggestions..... I really need to sit down, focus, and learn both Lightroom and PS. I am looking forward to the weekend "off" and I think I will play around with these images a bit more.
