For the price, it's hard to beat MonacoOptix.

I use GretagMacbeth Eye One Display, fairly cheap, seems to work well.

we use spyder 2 at work. it gets things pretty close (on dell 24 and 30 inch LCDs) but you can tell that it's not perfect. The monitors never look exactly the same. The contrast and overall brightness usually seems to be pretty dead on, but the color seems to be off quite ofte, just a little bit though, either a bit to warm or cool. Even dual monitor setups, each monitor won't be exactly the same. Don't get me wrong though, it's much better than when things aren't calibrated. I guess it'll never get perfect, even video monitor calibrations aren't always all the same, and thats what we base all of our final tape-outs with.
I wish there was a faster way to calibrate, the spyder 2 takes almost 30 minutes I believe. We just don't have time for alot of that, especially when you have two monitors per machine!

Same here. I haven't noticed any of the color offsets that Daniel see's, but he's probably calibrated his monitors more often than I have mine. For to-the-public sales, the Spyder has worked well but as I'm getting further into commercial and product shooting, I will likely upgrade in the coming months.
