Man, I want to shoot these cars. I LOVE this racing. It's awesome.

I really need to do this.

Great stuff.

Todd... I think you guys only get the "wingless warriors" out west... I saw them run out at Akejanians track about 12 years ago. These guys ... World Of Outlaws is a must see show. They literally just rip it up. I've been to three or four events... but in my pre-photog days. In Texas I went and couldn't figure out why no one was sitting down in turn two. By the end of the night, I could see why. The entire catch fence was SOLID mud... you couldn't even see through it. These guys have the highest power to weight ratio in racing... used to be like 800hp and 1200lbs or something along those lines. The inside front is rarely on the ground.. and the driver basically straddles the transmission. It's a blast.

We do get the big boys out here a few times a year. I literally lived across the street from the track for about 5 years.....about 15 years ago now. At that time, they just started with the winged cars and WOO. If I am not mistaken, it is the only 1/2 mile dirt track in Ca. You are right John, it is an awsome spectical to see, the power to weight ratio is incredible. If the track is just right, some of these guys will go down the front straight with the whole front end in the air  . Calistoga Speedway (http://www.napacountyfairgrounds.com/speedway.htm)
I have not been in a while and have been meaning to get back there.
By the way Alexius not trying to highjack your thread :D , very nice pictures. I like #5 and #9 the best.

Great shots!

I've been meaning to try to shoot those someday. Maybe make a run up to Attica, or down to Eldora. They just had Super Modifieds at Mansfield Motorsports Speedway, I should have gone to that.

Good Shots, I look forward to seeing more!:)

This, for the first time was since 1977 I do believe was a non-sanctioned event. The track was slightly pissed because the World of Outlaws ran into some drama and a bunch of the top drivers formed the NST (National Sprintcar Tour) ... However that nights top runners were all from teh WoO.

Thes cars weigh 1250lbs with the driver and produce about 800hp. On a large track like Knoxville which is 1/2 mile on the inside it's a very very fast track. There isnt many wheelies or anything like that. You see that a lot more on the smaller tracks. I'm used to watching these guys run on the smaller tracks so shooting them here posed a bit more fo a challenge. My main goal was to try a bunch of different spots to shoot from since I had only seen the track on tv from when I was a youngin.
