I'm not putting these in the critique section, because I didn't have time to do my usual prep work before the shots, and things were rushed.
After our work was done in Utah's Arches national park, we decided to take our rental out for a relaxing ride out and about with a coworker. We happened upon a nice sunset, took a few more quick pictures then headed back home. Critiques or comments if you wish, but I didn't have time to prep or spend much time shooting like I usually do. I also gave a shot with a 35mm lens, a focal length that isn't quite in my comfort zone for shooting cars, like the 135 is.
The entire time we were in Utah, we had a running joke about how bad the Jeep was. We called it the "Jee" because the front emblem was missing the "P" on Jeep. If we were to write a revew on the truck, it would be titled "one p short of a Jeep" :p The gas mileage was horrible, the power and acceleration was NOTHING!! My coworker has an old honda that has more acceleration than this thing. When we were turning around to drive up a dirt road, he floored it on the highway, it has NO pickup, no low end grunt, and not very much power up top either! We couldn't believe it. In my mind, I think either something was wrong with the engine, or it had been some sort of limiter on the throttle body or something due to it being a rental vehicle. It couldn't have been this much of a dog and suck down so much gas! The roof was to short, it was only a few inches above our head and the roof line at the window was almost eye level.
The key iginition placement was horrible. Once, his knee hit the key and the vehicle shut off, no power steering while he was going through a turn! It almost didn't start once, we had to crank it a few times. I think this was some sort of security problem, because he pulled the key out of the ignition, put it back in again and it fired right up. It's certainly not the jeeps that we had known from our past, it just didn't seem to function.
All in all, I like the way it looks from the outside, and the interior has a solid feel to it and looked pretty darn good. But as far as overall function.... no thanks! Wish I had more time to shoot it (or take it off road), it's a nice looking jeep.
enjoy :)
