This was going around email today.... how'd this guy get a credential? Are there no standards left anywhere in the world of professional sports?

Well, it is possible that he is an assistant to the photographer in front of him, tasked with running memory cards to a laptop for live uploads, and just took the opportunity to grab a shot.
Or is friends with the owner of the stadium and was a "pro photographer". ;)

Credentials for the world cup were actually very strict. It's likely he just knew the right person. At least he's not taking up a front spot and is somewhat staying out of the way of the people actually trying to do their job. Still a shame, though.

Perhaps he just forgot his gear? :) Great photo though, as well as a wonderful Canon advertisement!

Drew Carey is actually a pretty good photographer. I met him at one of the LA Galaxy games - really nice guy!
