Has anyone heard about new equipment that might get released at Photokina 2006? I took a look at photography-on-the.net rumor forums and it seems to be full of daydreaming and jokes rather than any solid leads and info.

I figure some of you guys probably have some good sources at Canon...

I heard about the Canon 1d$3 that has a wirelss transmitter which sends the images and the invoice to your client automatically. It then downloads your payment onto your CF card that you can just take to any ATM to get cash. Pretty slick!

The problem is that ALL comments would be GUESSES, and nothing that should be taken as fact. If anyone did have knowledge, they would be under a non-disclosure agreement... and couldn't tell you anyhow. If there was some semi-confirmed information out, it would be ALL over the place (like always happens). Knowing that Photokina is around the corner makes for speculation... so MAYBE you'd like to wait on purchases, but not because anything specific is on the way.

I heard a credible "rumor" this weekend that the next 1D model.

It will be one model, no regular and S models.

Full Frame, 18mp at 5 fps.

BUT, will also, have a 1.3 crop option to shoot at 9 fps at 10mp.

Not for sure, but heard that from someone that has been very close to Canon folks in the past, so its as close to credible as I think they can get at this point.

There are always information slips and leaks that don't get covered under NDA's, this is just a fact of life that corporations have to deal with. (trust me, I know all about this) With the number of pros on this forum, the likelihood that someone has heard something credible goes up. Thus my question.

And I'm not interested in what new releases will do to the new camera market, rather what might happen to the used camera market. If, for example, a 1Ds3 or 1DsMIIn were released, the number of used 1Ds's and 1DM2's at reasonable prices might go up. THAT is actually what I'm hoping for. The same thing happened with the release of the 1DM2n, and there was a flood of mildly used 1DM2's on FM.

But just because one doesn't think my question is serious shouldn't be a flag to turn the thread into reruns from Comedy Central.

Every six months it's the same thing, people saying their sister's mailman golfs with a guy who talked to the head of Canon Marketing and blah blah blah. 98% of the time they don't pan out. That's why many forums don't allow postings of rumors and speculation. Those who know, can't say and those who can say, don't know.

As was noted earlier, if there were any real information, you would know about it by now.

My friend is a Canon Explorer of Light and he does not even know what is coming out.

And Canon comes out with new cameras more often than you change your underwear, so just assume there is something new for all the doctors and lawyers to buy so they can measurbate
