One shot eh? wow lets see... I'm guessing it's this one, because I really like the composition with the S shaped road, and the stands in the background, and I like the fact that I captured it on a 10 inch wide sheet of film :D

I'm not sure this image will draw a huge consensus... but I chose it because this is the kind of photograph I want to make.

I've put together a 2008 Year In Review (http://www.johnthawley.com/year-in-review-2008) that can be viewed from this link:

I'll go with this as it relates to some of my goals for '08. I wanted to shoot more static vehicles, which I did, and I wanted to use more dynamic or complimentary backgrounds. Now I know a nice house isn't exactly groundbreaking, I was just trying to get away from the industrial lot or open road backgrounds used so often.

I also like M45s.

...also working on a year in review but I'm a little behind on that one.

I showed this before, but when I think "photos from last year I really liked," it always comes first to mind.

I had a hard tie choosing between a few of them... but i think this is a pretty great shot...

This was a tough choice for me. I really have two shots that I keep going back to from this year, one is a pretty standard shot from Road America turn6, where I lucked out and caught a light pocket just right. The other is this:

http://cclarkphoto.com/WebImages/nasaNats08-1.jpg

Mid-Ohio, 2008 NASA National Championships.

I've been working on a variation of this for a few seasons now, and never got it right. Tried different angles, focal lengths, etc.. It's not a technically perfect shot, but it's what I have visualized as the shot I wanted to capture, and I finally got it onto my CF card. LOL. A small victory I guess......

Shoot Chris, you're standing in my favorite spot! Please duck down. :) When did you get a Rebel XT?

Taken near Chris' spot during ALMS at Mid Ohio but looking left.

Really tough choice between two images... I'll pick this one, because I haven't seen other photographers shoot this location in this manner.

Just because it's so abstract...and the track at Cheste isn't really that sparkling in terms of angles. It was getting dark, and I'd had enough of taking shots where they come over the crest with the back end stepping out, and I saw how bright the jumbotron looked with the reflection in the pond. In fact the path to this shot started with the reflection shot then I saw how cool rears shots looked, and then this happened where you can see Pedrosa's eyes in the image because it was getting so dark most were wearing clear visors.

This is a collage, not an image. Did this for a friend who entered this car into a car show. The image was printed as a 24x36. He had it mounted on foam board and displayed with the car. I'm pretty happy with how it came out. I also took all the images in the collage. Its my favorite work from the year.

Since I could not possibly pick a favorite shot of the year, I will post a shot that represents the most stressful shoot of the year.

http://www.mjswebgallery.com/carz/images/genesis_536.jpg

I was sent to Korea to shoot the press kit shots for the forthcoming Hyundai Genesis Sedan and I got there to discover a big cluster**** and bad light.
Shots came out alright and it was a good adventure that was quite memorable, including the trip to the DMZ

For some reason I always come back to this one whenever flipping through my library, Mosport ALMS weekend during the IMSA GT3 race. It's different from the usual pan or 3/4 stuff I always seem to capture so I think that contributes to the attraction to it.

That's a very interesting car there, the placement of the rig is pretty cool and the shrubbery gives a cool feel to the shot. I'd be $#!++ing bricks if my camera was that close to clipping foliage :)

OK guys, this would be my third post. I joined this site a few months ago and just came across this topic. As with my other submission in the 2007 topic, I prefer the Super Latemodels but here is another shot of a Sprint Car.

This shot is of a local driver "backing it in" during a regular Friday night show. This was shot from the billboards in turns three and four at Lernerville Speedway 06-08-09 it has been desaturated just a bit to make the colors pop a little.

I don't know if this is my best, but it has resurfaced as my wallpaper several times since I shot it and it stays up. This was a total lucky shot, too. It was taken right before sunset so the color is ideal, IMO. The leader lights show the tale of their battle as the Porsche and Ferrari battle for second place coming around the turn 10 area.

That'd be the Gray Wolf Packard following the '11 Ralf Hamlin LA-to-Phoenix Franklin. Same owner. A shot of the Franklin was my "One Shot" shot, see post #10 in this thread. It sure did run strong. And LOUD.
