Haven't weighed it yet, but the camera, flash, and the shoulder strapped power pack/electronics for the flash (pictured in the 2nd shot next to the camera) all weigh a pretty good amount! Should give my arms/shoulders a nice workout :D It'll make the 1Ds2 feel like a point and shoot :p

Still waiting on the correct flash handle clamps to arrive, as well as a secure way to mount the flash head to the handle (I've got a solution to that, just need to go to the hardware store and buy the parts... once I'm over this cold I have... darn it!) Since I was sick and didn't feel like going out anywhere this weekend, I got the rangefinder dialed in at all ranges, got the shutter release on the body adjusted to fit the shutter, found (in a box of mine!) a sync cable that fits the shutter and flash, and cleaned up the camera a bit. Almost ready to go!

I'll be using this at some upcoming vintage auto races (this time with the big flash!) as well as some other 'vintage' projects I'm going to be working on :)

All of this found (and modified!) for almost 1/2 of a Canon digital rebel! Staying classy... AND under budget :D

Daniel,

Do you have to wear a fedora when you're shooting with this?

here's some results from my first real tests, also testing out the 6-sheet holder grafmatic, which is a joy to use instead of constantly dealing with the dark slide, flipping the holder, and grabbing new holders all the time. just pull the slide out and push it in again, and it's ready with the next shot :-)

f5.6, flash on full and 3/4 power, Adox Orthochromatic 25 speed film (not sensitive to red light) developed in Rodinal 1:50 for 6 minutes. I think I'm gonna keep this combo going, I like the thinner DOF at f5.6 (instead of to the usual f11 f16 or f22 or for higher speed film), the DOF isn't real apparent to much in the web sized images, but it's got a good look to it, not super thin, but thin enough to give an interesting sense of depth when printed, I think.

What's with the dead guy? A little CSI action maybe?

I like old cameras like this. The compression on the first shot is neat, but something about it is a little weird at the same time.

it's a slightly wide lens, probalby equal to about 40mm on a 35mm camera.

Yea, I'm going to be trying out some 'crime scene' shots later on, a coworker of mine decided to pretend to fall down the stairs for a little practice, lol. Turned out a bit goofy though, cause he was about to slide all the way down and had to try and hold on. :-D

Here's some more results. Warning, there's fake blood & wounds on these images, so if you get queezy very easy, I would skip it :-)

Is that a dog on the step with the woman?

How did you scan them in? What soup did you use? For that matter, what film?

Yea, that's her dog lilly :)

Adox Orthochromatic 25iso 4x5s (orthochromatic, sensitive to only Green and Blue, not Red), developed in Rodinal 1:50 for 6 minutes, with 6 inversions every minute and 20 seconds of constant inversion to start off the process :)

You my friend have issues. You seem to be going back in time with gear, so whats next after this? Nice crime scene shots by the way.
