Is this a shutter issue?

I've found a little information elsewhere that seems to point to a shutter going bad. Has anyone come across this before?

Thanks.

looks like a light leak from a shutter thats dying

might need a trip back to canon

when the shutter went in my 1dmk2n it was leaving a diagonal black line across images - 2 weeks out from the end of warranty

Is this the only image where this problem showed up in or is it repeatable? (not that I have any idea what is causing it, but it might be a good idea to know the answer to this question)

Shutter. I had the exact same issue on one of my 1dII bodies. Sent in to Canon last week, $331 later I have a new shutter.

I sent this one in last Monday. Quote was $212 including shipping for 'minor parts'.

My first 1ds Mk2 (bought when they where new out) had a new shutter, viewfinder and something else all replaced until I got fed up and contacted Canon and demanded a replacement.
No problem since touch wood!
I won't but the latest cameras just out as there always seems problems with early ones.

Chris - I had the same early life shutter failure on my 1D MKII - under CPS, Canon Irvine replaced it for FREE, and performed a full cleaning of the camera.

They said they were 'aware of early life failures' - hence the FREEness :D
