I was invited to attend a lovely private event with the CCCA (Classic Car Club of America) at an artist's studio outside of Baltimore. I went with my friend and his Superfomance 427 Cobra. That car is so fast and rather loud. It sets off car alarms at idle.

We arrived at the event, and parked a Packard, a Buick, a 47 Lincoln Continental Covertible, a Lancia, Morgan, Citroen. Inside the studio was a Ferrari and 507 BMW Convertible.

Met one gentleman who was with Lucas back in the early 60's and worked with Carol Shelby on the very first Cobra. He drove just about early Cobra made. He went on to other adventures before the 427s.

Another fellow has about 100 Fords in his collection. He calls his garage the Shrine of the Holy Grill.

Here are some photos from the day. Please keep in mind that my comments are observations of someone trying to learn as much as possible.

This one was taken at about 70mph with my camera 2 inches from the pavement.

I really liked the color of the brick in the background. It was an interesting contrast to the subtle blue of the Lincoln.

I've been playing with my newly aquired 10.5 fisheye. It can get ugly and distorted quickly. But its also a neat perspective, given the right subject and angle. I don't think it worked in this first shot.

I've noticed that the fisheye seems to work better with organic, round shapes.

I didn't have my additional flashes so shooting inside the studio was tough. I played with contrast and saturation with this one.

I have a 15mm fisheye that handles the 5D quite well. It's a Sigma and I was surprised how well flare was tamed with it.

By the way, handheld rig shot at 70? Brave soul....

I never said I was a very smart fellow. : ) Actually, I love that angle on the cobra. You sit so low in the car that you can get some great angles, just sitting in the cockpit. This was the first time I had shot from that angle with the fisheye and wanted to see want sort of perspective it would generate.

I need to investigate the photoshop plugin to de-fish an image. Does anyone use any specific plugins to accomplish that?

photoshop does it without any plug-in's

I like to use my 10.5 myself, but it's usually only on occasion.

Check this out Ken. http://www.acapixus.dk/software/rectfish/. I played around with it last year. The price is right (free). Not really too bad, but it leaves something to be desired. There's some other fisheye software out there that allows you to combine images into a 360 pano. Kind of cool but it would be just one more app to learn.

So did they make the D90 so it could handle a 2" drop at 70? Getting some video on the D90 at that angle would have been sweet .

Here's a fisheye I cropped more to a pano with the 15mm Sigma on a 5D. http://sastein.zenfolio.com/img/v0/p403395223-4.jpg
