OK... well, it came and went. I have mixed feelings about my shooting. I don't feel like I necessarily broke any new ground, but overall, I was pretty pleased. I felt I had a good solid shoot. It's amazing how much of this stuff can be a "head" thing.

Holy Hell at the colors in #5!!! ::Jaw Drop::
I love # 2 as well, although I feel that I want the BMW to be a bit brighter or something...
No Exif data? Boooo.
Can't wait to see more!

I think you cross posted while I was still setting up the links. Your reference and my numbers don't coincide to your original post. Sorry.

John: Not sure what's happening on my end, but I have a wonderful series of 8 red x's to critique. Other images on the site are working fine (the other Sebring thread).

I got 8 red x's now too.

Hmmmm. They ARE a wonderful set of x's at least.

All x's. Maybe the gorilla carrying the umbrella in the paddock ate your photos.

Agree on the R15. Really great shot.
You know if they all ran the diesels, we wouldn't need ear plugs. That thing was silent.

Number two is just dynamite, but I think Jimmy Walker would say it best "Dyn-o-mite!"
I also really like the BMW shot, said to see the RL team have issues with the new car but thats racing!

#2 FTW !
I gotta say though: I really like the shot of the 2 mazda's running together. Can't put my finger on it, but there is something about that shot for me. It might be my favorite of the set.
Nice job.

Yes, #2 is great. #6 is a fun catch (or plan?) But I love, love, love #3...very nice, unique feel to it. Love it. Love it. Love it! Nice job.

At the risk of further exposing my ignorance, why am I not seeing EXIF data on posted photos? Actually, I'm not ignorant, just thought some others might be afraid to ask.
Thanks,

Hmmm.... not using a PC.. but, does IE 7 have and EXIF reader plug-in? Keep in mind, the EXIF is NOT visible in the page.
I use Firefox with a "plug-in" for reading EXIF Data. It's a right click menu item.

There is no EXIF viewer that I know of for IE. The best you can do is save the photo then right click-properties-summary-advanced. Otherwise switch to FIrefox.

Aha! I feel better now. Figured it wasn't something super obvious. Kept right-clicking in IE7 but no EXIF to be found. Added the EXIF viewer to my Firefox and all is well. Thanks Brent and JT.
And yes, I'm currently "stuck" with a PC (actually a very nice Dell Latitude D630), but Power Macs are on my wishlist.

Ummm I have a EXIF Reader on Internet Explorer... Works much better than the one I use for FireFox.

JT,
Killer photos...very clean. I second the sentiment for the Audi pit photo as my favorite.
I've slowly been making my way through your all of you galleries...you seem to not crop your photos, is that true?

Thanks Collin.
I'm pretty hesitant to crop images beyond straightening an horizon or trimming a bit of extraneous content. My fear is having someone request an image for hi-res use and then having to explain that what they are seeing is only half the file...
Thanks again,

For this one, did u layer it so that the white balance differed for the one car from the rest of the scene?

Layer? - LOL -
I don't get into that kind of retouching unless something is being used for a poster or advertisement... etc. There's no time for that. This is out of the camera with standard contrast, color adjustment and sharpening.
It's back lighted. The sky is simply blown out.

If I was shooting #3...I think I'd be preoccupied with the blown sky...but damned if it doesn't work. I really, really like that image.
And I will never get sick of your sunset shots. Excellent.

Just curious - what metering are you using to get the sunset's? I'm assuming a spot, but your exif says pattern in #3

Nope. Pattern :)
I play a lot with back lighted images. I shoot a TON of sunsets down here using my Leicas. I've learned quite a bit of how I want to get a "look" from an image. It's a trade off when you shoot back lit. You have to decide what you're after and how you want to trade.

honestly... you could not get that gull like that again if ya tried!
since you stated that your not a photochopper I'm assuming it was the real deal - nice shot.

Well, you live in a place where gulls are as common as our tree rats you're bound to get a shot like that.:)
It's all in the bait.
Nice shot John.

Don't know if it breaks new ground, but I keep staring at the #2 R15 shot - amazing!
Not sure if the question belongs here or in the "Flash?" thread. Watching the Sebring 12hrs TV aerial coverage, it looked like every corner on the circuit was artificially illuminated. Is this peculiar to Sebring or ALMS? Any idea why, like giving a crutch to the wankers or worse, to the drivers? Watching "Truth in 24" the previous evening there were no artificial lights in the turns at LeMans. Just wondering...
I totally agree the natural light nighttime shots are best.

Thanks, Tom.
What you are seeing on TV is not an accurate representation of the lighting. TV cameras (just like an electronic view finder in a video camera) will suck in all the lighting it can get.... in reality, it's not nearly that bright.
Trust me, Sebring is DARK.

Thanks, was just wondering cause it reminded me of some discussion last season about artificial lighting in the corners, maybe at Petit?
