This weekend I went to the Redline Time Attack races at Buttonwillow Raceway. I only went to shoot for fun so I had more flexibility to shoot some off-track paddock shots. I'll post a few of the on-track photos in a different thread soon.

Sorry about the "in your face" watermarks though. I'll be uploading some new ones tonight with more subtle text on them.

Had fun with Daniel's the 85mm f/1.2 though.

Damn you and Daniels 85 f1.2L, the few shots I took with it makes me want on soo bad. Now I am thinking about the 85 f1.8 instead. Nice series man. Only wish that the driver in #5 was not moving when you took the shot. Well at 1/13th you got shaky. But it was a fun day.

I hear the IQ on the 85 1.8 is better than the 1.2. I find that hard to believe. I have a couple friends with the 1.2 who shoot portraits and weddings and they love the bokah it gives.

That's one big dude driving the Vette. Looks like an ex-football player.

I thought bokeh was a function of maximum aperture and was not a function of IQ.

Nice set Aaron. What's up with the roof of the vette in #7, needed more head room?

Thanks guys!

Yep, the driver in number 7 had that custom "bubble top" roof made for his car because he couldn't sit in the car with a helmet on otherwise. The first couple of track events he went to, the top of his helmet was sticking out at least a few inches. Won't help him in a roll over, but it lets him drive with the hard-top on. A very nice and jolly guy.

The more and more I shoot with Daniel's 85mm f1.2, the more I like it. I don't know if I'm becoming a bokeh addict, but shooting that thing at 1.2 through 1.6 gives a totally different look than any other lens (save the 50 1.0/1.2 maybe). I don't think that the f/1.8 lens would give the same surreal feeling at 1.8 than the f1.2 lens can give wide open. I could live without the green fringing on the bokeh when wide open though.
