A little five year-old technology for all you "gotta-have-it" gear heads.

I regularly shoot with the "new" 1D classic I picked up over the winter.

4 mp = no room to crop

bad battery life = make every frame count. It doesn't matter if it'll take a 2 gig card, there's no way in hell will it fill up before the battery dies lol.

#6 is interesting, what's that he's holding?

Great stuff. I should break-out the D30 one of these weekends just to pop off a few 3.2MP 3fps shots from the 'old days' of digital.

Oh, so you guys think shooting with a DSLR is "roughing it?" These are fixed lens shots. And a EVF with a 10mb buffer. LOL

You and that Leica... LOL;)

#1 is exceptional. Just gorgeous.

Hmmm... multiple choice:

1. A fanny pack?
2. During long stints, a driver can't stop to go to the bathroom.
3. Look what I just found on ebay.
4. Let's see you beat my times without this!
5. Check out my new mobile phone... it's the "bag" kind. SCHWEET!

Daniel,

I know you have the slow shutter speed nailed, but how's your panning with that beast?

Nice Ansel Adams hat too. :)

Steve

I can't remember exactly what shutterspeed I used, it was 320 speed film so I imagine I probably did f22 at 1/200th or so.

I haven't tried panning the 8x10 on cars yet (I've panned a few 4x5's though, and some hand-held 8x10), I'm hoping to try that sometime though :)

Great color on all of them, John, but wow @ #1.

Love the sharpness of all of them too.

That looks like a Camelbak hydration pack in #6.

I regularly shoot with "old" gear... a pair of highly experienced 1D Mk IIs and some Norman flash gear that's old enough to vote! :)

Maybe it's time for me to pick up a clean 1D Mark 1 from my friend or maybe just use my G9 more on my walks thru the pits.

Chuck, Chuck, Chuck... a 1D MKll? C'mon. That's not even remotely old. Certainly not technology-wise. LOL

Here's the camera I used... and use nearly daily.

No, but they were cheap. :D I love grabbing "obsolete" DSLRs for cheap when the next generation is all the rage.

I would think "cheap" is relative though. ;) Sorry... I think the MKll is a wonderful and fully capable camera and widely put into service. ESPECIALLY given the issues the MKlll had.
