All of them are great shots, but #5 stands out. The way the track leads to the car is especially good. 7 is good too with the light hitting the face/eyes.
Lots of chassis flex in #2.

Thanks everyone, it was sucha great expereince as it was my first major event and shooting bathurst is such an amazing circuit. But the best thing was the light in the morning as the race started at 6am, ill be going back every year just to get that light. Ive never felt like that before when shooting motorsport lol.
4 is my favorite as well, i just luved how the sun reflected of the white wall to light the inside of the car which shoudl of been dark and the glow u get from the morning light.
Cant wait or next years event.

Matt,
I'm curious how things are done down under. Did you have media credentials? If so, how hard is it to get them?

Steve, i did for this event and it was reletively easy to get as i was covering it for a magazine and a few online websites, but i made most of my money selling to the teams. This event isnt that big so i think they gave them out to most people who applied, but i think it will be harder next year as its growing.
Australia in general has a Photographer Accreditation system done by CAMS (Confederations of Australia Motorsport, which is pretty much the FIA in australia) They have a Gold, Silver and Bronze system which you have to go for each year. Your application is subject to a board of photographers who review a business plan and portfolio and so forth and they determine what level you are.
V8 supercars is the major National Series we have in Australia and they have cut down massively on media accred for this year. Pretty much unless your a Gold photographer or shooting for getty, sutton, major newspaper, Approved magazine (about 4) or approved website (only 2). You have no chance at all.
I dont really have a problem with that as i can work my way up to Gold and get access. But the problem i have is that the people who determine if you are gold, silver or bronze level photographer are all V8 Supercar photographers so its kind of like they sit at the table and go who will we let have a slice of our money which is a joke in my eyes.
Shannon Nationals is another national series but is tiny relative to V8 supercars and thats pretty easy to get accred for. But there is no real money there unless your shooting for the 3 motorsport magazines in Australia.
I hope that made sense, if you have any other questions feel free to ask.

Thanks for the update, Matt. It's always interesting to see how things are done in other parts of the world.
It's been about 3 years since I've been to OZ, and I've been there 4 times on biz. One of the best countries I've been to and I've been to a lot of them. You guys are the best and you know your beer. :)

You should try Le Mans! I find it quite an experience getting those dawn shots, the cars looking filthy and covered in tape and like you say - the beautiful light.
Great shots Matt.:)

Gezz I dont know if thats correct you may want to re-read how the levels work. The levels are based on your commitments to motorsport, if you shoot for many publications and attend many events(especially the ones outside your state) then your entitled to apply for Gold.
I would think if the board didnt want you to "have a slice of their income" they wouldnt of approved your application to join cams in the first place?
Your intitled to your opinion about the CAMS board and how it operates, but I must admit, im supprised that someone who has only been in CAMS for 4 months has chosen a public forum to voice their concerns about the way it operates. Its not compulsary to be apart of it(CAMS Photography Accreditation) if your not happy with the ways its run, then dont bother with it.
My advice would be, if you dont want to be in CAMS, they make sure all your insurances are uptodate, have a list of your published clients, they approach AVESCO or whomever your desired organisers are and apply direct.
CAMS does NOT guarantee media access.

Scott like you say im entitled to my opinion and i know others share the same view. I think the system is good as it actually adds value too it which i didnt think it did before, it just seems odd to outsiders the way v8 supercars has gone this year and its link to cams photographers. Thing that frustrates me is you get backing from a legitimate publication and you cant get access, but last year u could of been giving free images to a local newspaper and get access. But im over that now, just means i have to work my ass of this year to get silver and keep trying to get access.
Happy snapping :)
