A selection of my photos from the IRL event at the Infineon Raceway (aka. Sears Point) from this past weekend. It was really great to see Marco Andretti take his first victory, I see MANY more in his future! Enjoy:

last one looks a little off on the focus (can't tell for sure because of the size of the image). the rest of the shots look great

Really nice Todd. As John mentioned, the portrait is fantastic. The first shot seems a bit flat to me though...could use a little more pop.

Very cool shots - I'd love to take such great shots somewhen too :)
I especially love the one with the public viewing area in the back.

All in all very well done!

Yeah, it's a little soft... and is a crop... not my favorite shot, but I like the moment.

I was adjusting things for the shadows in the faces, and you never really know how things will turn-out on the web. I adjusted the black point a little, so I think it's a little less "washed out" now.

Edit: Oh yeah, I also put-up a little Tribute to Marco Andretti's first IRL victory (http://www.unitonestudios.com/gallery/motorsports/2006/Marco_Andretti/Marco_Andretti_index.html).

A little bit stunned at the lack of spectators. It almost looks as if a World Challenge race is about to break out. LOL

The portrait is really great. Can you tell me what the set up was for it? Any fill flash used? What's the background?

I didn't think the IRL was the healthiest thing around in terms of spectators, viewers, or sponsors unless you drive for Rahal-Letterman or Andretti.

Marco was standing in the team's data-center behind the pit wall. The background was just a black tarp thinggie they had up. There was some fill from a 550ex, if it fired, but since he was in the shade (and the background was dark) the exposure was based on his face alone... so no fill was really needed. To be honest, it's a little soft... and I wished he had taken off the jacket (part of me like the jacket though). Sometimes you just get lucky!

Yeah, the crowd was a bit sparse. The Grand AM race on Saturday was even more void... I didn't even bother to take any wide-angle crowd shots there were so few in the stands.

More than ALMS? Maybe... but I doubt it... but at Infineon/Sears Point you need to run with NASCAR to get a crowd.

Good work as usual todd. You always seem to be at the right place at the right time and get it done!
