I said it on FM, but I just wanted to say it again... #6 is a very interesting shot. I'd like to see more car, but it really works for me in one sense.

I assume you mean POTN? I have not posted this on FM. Thanks for the compliment. For me, it's showing just the right amount for the same reason that John said..."shark". I got that image in my mind when I saw them zipping by here. A shark (a really fast one at that) with the dorsal fin sticking out of the water.

Looking good Jeff.
I agree, some how #6 works.
Just enough to tell the story.

I'm sure the IRL would not be happy to see #2 though. Seems like a so-so turnout for the race.
Too bad, It was a pretty good race on tv.

Nice job.

I really like #4,5,6,and 8.

But, I have to ask: was #8 an accident or were you trying to do that? Every time I try those I can NEVER get it right. Maybe I just suck.:D

Good job.

Thanks Brad. It seemed like there were more people in the seats near the esses. I think there were more people for this than AMLS in the past...I kind of thought it would be the other way around.

Thanks Chris. #8 was not an accident...although I didn't get it the first time. It took a few shots before I got the timing down.

#8 is not likely an accident. But it is also not trivial (for me) to capture. I captured a shot like this for a client. I was up in the starter stand taking pictures down on the S/F line trying to get one of the cars as they came through. I think it took about 10 laps for me to get one that was even close. You really need to think about how much delay there is between when you press the shutter and when it opens/shuts. So timing the speed of the cars as they are approaching the field of view you're trying to capture.

In my case, the tail end of the car wasn't in the frame, and I never thought I would find a use for it. But I wound using it as the "backdrop" for the hero card I did for them.

Moral of the story. Never throw away images that you think "might work." You never know when you will have a use for them.

Yeah, after looking at your other work, I figured that it was NOT an accident. But I had to ask.;)

One of my biggest problems viewing other peoples work is that I don't think of it in terms of "art", i.e. composition, subject matter, etc.. I view it in technical terms, i.e. what settings, did he pan?, What focus point did he use? etc... I'm trying to work on that...
However, I really enjoyed looking at this set of photos in that respect. Having tried shot #8, I can appreciate the difficulty in getting it right, especially since I have yet to accomplish it. And don't get me started on #6, I can't imagine how you kept that little sliver of car in focus while panning that shot. Amazing.

Nice job.
