I had some interesting comments on this shot...most of which were..."that's an interesting shot". I would love to hear a little more of what you may be thinking about it...
Thanks!

I like the color saturation and the blur is nice, as is the graphic feel of the image, but I don't think you see enough of the car. If it did not say Honda on it, you would not know what it is.
I think it would be a good shot with similar composition but seeing the whole car (or most of it)

You could say a similar thing about so many shots... The fact is, it does say it. We know what it is.
I like the shot purely based on how unconventional it is. I know what it is but I'm drawn to look at it a little longer to look for details. The blur looks a little PS'ish, but it's done well regardless of if it is (or isn't) enhanced. Nice image.

Thanks Morgan and Keith. That's the kind of feedback I was hoping for...comments from both sides of the fence.
Keith, there is no PS in the blur, only a little saturation, contrast and usm.

I had to use manual focus for this because the auto focus points aren't that low in the frame of the 20D and I didn't want to crop it later. Oh yea, I was also shooting through a chain link fence.
20D with the 100-400 L IS 4.5-5.6
Thanks again guys.

My original opinion was to see more of the car... but JT's "Landshark" comment really swayed me. With the proper title, this totally looks like a shark... you could even caption it "Tony Kannan hunts down Marco Andretti" or something like that. As for the photo, I really like the motion in the background and the off-center composition. As a "standard car shot" it needs more car, but as something more creative (and that's all about how you sell it to us) it could really work.

And they don't work either
The fact is, it does say it. We know what it is.
Only because you know racing, otherwise it is meaningless.
Photo would only work in the context of other racing photos (to complete the story) or with a caption (photo should not have to rely on a caption), on its own it does not work IMO
Me thinks if you could see the drivers helmet and the tops of the wheels, it would be ace

Ya know I normally agree with Todd on just about everything, and same with JT, but I have to give the nod to Morgan here. We are all car nuts. Most of us are motor sports nuts. So we develop our own lingo and what not. And this alienates everyone else who might desire joining our club (so to speak...not this site). I showed this image to several folks who stopped by today. Though I know what it is and think it is way good and pretty technically sound to boot, one person of the twelve I showed it to knew what it was. So if we are going to grade things from a standpoint of commercial viability, maybe we have to ask ourselves how broad that viability should be (?).

My "Landshark" comment was simply a one liner.
I think I know what people "want to see" in this photo, but frankly it's not there. I too would like to see a helmet, more of the cowling and I'd like to see the lines perfectly horizontal.
It's a photo that is attempting to break rules.... which obviously a slippery slope. Conceptually it's cool... in reality it's not quite there. IMHO. :)
