The other day I had to use some AA batts in my grip and the camera would only take 1 shot and then the camera would turn off and the batt indicator would come on. After I removed the Batt holder and turned the camera on again I would get 1 or 2 shots before I had to repeat the process? Any suggestions? The camera works fine w/ the rechargable batteries in the grip but not AA's. Thanks, Steve

why are you using AA's anyways? there is never a reason to use that AA adaptor for your grip. infact just throw it away. i use 1series so fortunately battery is the least of my worries, all hope is not lost though. www.sterlingtek.com i know they used to sell perfectly good generic BP-511 or whatever you need for like 10 bux a piece. load up!

edit ok i just checked they are $11.99 per 1800mAh cell. they last a good long while and the shipping is uber fast.

Todd.... it's called an emergency. And, generic BP-511's are not reccommended.

Steve, where the batteries Alkaline or Heavy Duty? I would say to stick with Alkalines. If they were rechargeables, you may have a reversed cell... not meaning it is in backwards, but that the cell as reversed its polarity.

why arent generic batteries not recommended??

ive had nothing but great luck with generics even my generic NP-E3 is fine.

there is nothing wrong with generic batteries. using that silly AA dealy is rediculous.

I have found that with a set of freshly charged 3200mah NiMH AA's I get about 1/3 the battery life as a BP-511. When I used to shoot NCAA sports with a newspaper-provided Nikon D100 we shot with Sunpak 2300mah NiMH AA's and battery life was superb. What gives?
