Chris,

All are great, but 3, 4, and 5 are winners. Just different enough and the light was great. I left early (DNF) since my back was giving me fits. I wish I would have just popped a couple of pain pills and stuck it out. I could have gotten some real creative shots when the meds kicked in, but none would have been in focus. :)

PS, check my post and see if you recognize anything.

I really like the diagonal line the track creates in 5. 6 is also solid with the crowd in the background. Nice set.

Chris

Nice shots - love that evening light! And, people make a much better backdrop than RVs.

#4 & 5 are my favorites of the set.

Is #7 outside the exit of Turn 9?

See you at NASA GL in July.

Tom, nope, outside Keyhole, a little further around the corner, past the billboards.

I found a nice spot up on the hill looking into turn 11 that works fairly well with the 400. I bet a 500 would do well there too.

I find the problem with that spot is the "window" for getting the car while it still has some "attitude" is extremely narrow and worse, the driver's line is totally unpredictable. The entry to 11 is uphill and the exit is off camber... even with the 500mm, the cars look wonky and wobbly. I've shot it time and time again and never been totally satisfied. They just look "meh."

It's one of the few places you can see over the catch fence and not have a camper in the background. If you let the car come down a bit more into Thunder, you get a 3/4 shot. Granted, it's not the best, but it's different. I'm not fond of the platform in the background though.

Thanks John! We missed you this weekend.

Steve,
I have to agree with JT on this one. We've shot that location many times, and I always come away underwhelmed. I just can't get it to 'work' there. Not sure why, may have another look this weekend.....

Yeah... if you're going to let 'em come down into Thunder.... let 'em come. LOL

Experience wins out. Next time I'll hoof around more than I did last weekend.
