I went up to Lime Rock today and took a few quick shots. What do you guys think?

I really like the classic cars :D
The shots look as you described, quick. The 2nd picture has the most potential I think, I'm a sucker for closk up headlight/nose shots :D To me they are like portraits.
The last two I think I seem what you are after (the competition, stacked up nose to nose so to speak?) But I'm not quite sure that the images tell it very well.
I think that it might have been more productive to focus on one car per shot, rather then try to encorperate two cars in a shot (as you probably didn't have much room, or ability to move them I assume?) I think focusing on the race aspects of the cars individually might have turned out better?

What's happening in the first shot?

I think the shot would have been better if it were a camaro facing the mustang but thats not how they parked them. But I'll try taking some more shots of single cars and thier own details on Monday. Thanks for your thoughts. :)
As for the first picture, BMW stunt rider Jean Pierre Goy was trying to take a water bottle out of the fellow in red's hand and lost control of the bike. He got right up afterwords and had a little scratch on his arm then he hopped on another bike and finished the show.

I just love the expression of the 2nd fellow from the left with the sunglasses on his head in #1.

I took a few more, I tried to think about the shots a little more before taking them.

I think these are an improvement!
#4 I think could use a bit of breathing room infront of the car, was this perhaps cropped after the fact? or is this how it was captured? If it's been cropped, I'd suggest leaving a bit more room infront of the car (maybe the back as well). That aside, I think the shot looks pretty darn good! The lighter guard rail and darker road together seem to frame the car nicely :) Though, there is alot of grass on the top, not sure what would be a good suggestion for that.
#3 has a great stance on the car, my only complaint is the background, which can't usually be helped at events like this. If you are up for some photoshopping, this might be a good one to try and remove the background cars and people. Not sure where your 'ethics' line is drawn, but I think a bit of matte painting could make this shot pretty killer.
I really dig the classic look to #1 :)

Progress on the removal. I'm not to sure what to do where the mini is just yet.

Hmmm.... youve created a grassy knoll in front of the wheels of the cars... not good.
Not sure without access to the orginial... but I think my approach would be to use the tree on the left, the hillside, the tree between the Mustang and the cars... and maybe even the hills on the far side of the photo, and recreate the background. I would paste in patches then work on cloning out any seams... being careful not to generate a repetitivie moire`

a tip on matte painting, if you have an image that has alot of grass/trees in it, use that to clone from, instead of your original. Because the lighting is really flat (no direct sun) this would probably work out quite nicely, you don't have to watch the directlon of shadows. :)
