Well, I drove an auto up there to shoot and there were autos there:rolleyes:

1st time shooting cycles on purpose. They were odd to get used to; they fill the frame in a strange way. They stop faster, lean more and are gone. Despite the fact it was 600F, I came away tired but happy. Fire away.

Darren,

Bikes are a bit different. I haven't shot much of them, but it's fun trying new things. You got some nice motion blur going on 1 and 8 but 2 and 5 are way too fast of shutter speed. Great capture on 7 and maybe crop some of the foreground out so the remaining rider looking back is more prominent.

I think some of these are a bit underexposed. #5 and 8 there isn't much separation and looked a little plugged in the shadows.

Steve,

Thanks for the comments! Yeah, the wheelie shot was a sister kisser. He had lifted the front off the ground over the checkers for the 2 laps prior and I had one with decent blur and one toasted. I figured he would go all out for the final and jacked up the shutter to make sure I nailed it. #5 I like stopped dead with shallow DOF.

The crash is cropped pretty heavily already, I was shooting really wide pans when it happened. Guy looking back cut him off. it was either the cool down or recon lap, don't remember. Rider #61 probably got a bitchfest from WERA. I lightened the shadows a bit on #5 & #8, but I think the darks were getting crushed in the ProPhoto, to sRGB, to Flickr conversion.

Thanks man! Happy shooting!

Yeah, the wheelie shot. When I was at the AMA practice at Infineon earlier this year I was practicing slow pans when one of the riders pulled an unexpected wheelie when I was panning on him. I think he saw the camera and decided to give me a money shot. Of course I was practicing at some crazy low speed and I missed most of the shot. Live and learn.

Shooting bikes is an art. Mike, Todd and others here have it down. Me, still a WIP, as with cars in motion.

Thanks! He was the guy who dumped the Aprilia rider.
