Here are some shots from PIR last weekend. I tried to pay more attention to backgrounds. What do you think of the compositions? I'm also starting to learn post processing. Any improvement thoughts are always welcome.

Thanks,
Willi

2. Not sure if a faster or slower shutter speed would be better here...

#2 just feels like it's too busy to me. The cone with the stop sign, the armco barrier, the billboard...too many elements that don't work together.

I like the composition on the pans...the cars are really low in the frame with good negative space.

Yeah. #2 does look a little busy. Maybe that's what is bothering me about it. Blocking out just the stop sign helps a lot.

#6 is a nicely composed shot, Willi! I really like how the car is in the corner of the frame, with lots of "story" telling about where the car has yet to go. Of course, the motocross course in the background just kills everything. Gotta love PIR.

I'm struggling a bit with #3.

I like the composition... but wish the image had more energy... it should look like a war.

By the way, how much is this image cropped? I see it was shot at 190mm - I don't recall being able to get that close in the corner down there.

Thanks Jeff. I wanted more wheel motion, but then the other cars get more blurry than I'd like. Yep, the more I look for backgrounds the more I keep finding foreign objects.

John, I'm shooting outside the fence through an access hole directly in front of turn 4. There was a platform and green sissor lift with a TV camera in front of it for the ALMS race. This one got a little to high trying to get the cars down and I caught the fence. So it's cropped about 10-15%. Here's the uncropped version.

Excellent location... I just seemed to recall it being further away... so I didn't wander over their this year.
