This is probably the most beautiful work I've seen in a very long time. High def time lapse shot with a 20D:

Very well done... makes me want to go out and try it (my D30 is going to blow-up anyhow!). The Golden Gate and Bay Bridge parts with the water and fog was cool, but the airplanes landing was awesome!

Jeff

Thanks for the link. I saw this guys stuff about a year ago on Fred Miranda where there was quite a bit of discussion about 'how to' do this stuff. It got my interest up enugh to build an intervalometer (I'm an electronics geek by background) and shoot some of my own, but nothing as nice as the reel you linked to. There are some time lapse clips where the camera is on motorised pan/tilt head where you can even control focus and zoom. I think these are more interesting than locked down clips.

It's really quite easy to do this kind of thing (with the camera locked down), but does require some dedication to do really well. HD is only 1920x1080 pixels so almost any crappy digital camera is up to the standard, though most computers would have a hernia at that resolution. The beautifull timelapse you linked to is only 720.

It's easy to import a bunch of images into Quicktime, or similar, and there you have it, timelapse. I'm not sure if the 1920x1080 timelapse created in Quicktime is of any use other than on a computer monitor, not sure how you could integrate it into any other (real) HD clip, but then I'm not a pro editor. This was the bit that eluded me and spending tens of thousands on real 1080p editors, and all the other gear you need to create real HD, was out of my price range. Maybe things have changed since then, about a year ago.

I have been planning something like this for awhile now, since my Nascar video. Was going to do a test at the next NHRA race in prepaeration to have it down for the next NASCAR race, I wanted to timelapse the haulers coming in and unpacking and the crowds filling the stands for the race.
