The last race for Calistoga was the Louie Vermeil Classic. In the mid '30s Louie got Calistoga to let race cars on the track which was originally built for horses. Louie was considered instrumental in bringing up dirt track racing in northern California until he retired in the mid '80s. Many of you may have heard of his son, former NFL coach, Dick Vermeil. He spent a lot of his younger years around these cars too. Most of the other races here are winged sprint cars only...this event is with out wings plus midgets and some vintage sprint cars are out racing as well.

I am open to your opinions on these.

Oh my. #2 and #4 are brilliant.... and for completely different reasons. #2 looks like the "real deal'.... great conversion however you got there. #4 is just an incredible shot and exposure. That shot has got it all going on. Great.

Number 4 is iconic. Just a little bit of the wheel lost at the bottom which kind of bugs me because otherwise, it's so perfect.
Number 5 I can almost smell.
