For all of us in SoCal now is a good time to take advantage of the colorful sunsets courtesy of the 21,000 acre fire in Castaic. A couple fire seasons ago I was in the middle of a job, we had more color in the sky than when it's clear. Just take into account the smoke cloud cuts off the sun about 15-20 minutes earlier.

It's over 80k acres now. But man, sunset light all day near the smoke. I think a car shooter must've set that blaze. Who's shooting a catalog now? ;)

I shot some ad stuff, but that was during the two days we had marine layer, of all things. I had to light my subjects myself.
The FD were staging near my house at a local supermarket parking lot, guys from as far away as Apple Valley (that's a 2-hour drive from here) and have seen trucks from Monterey (think 5 hours). I stopped and thanked them, the crew I saw had been on for 8 days. Grateful for the hard work they put in. Thankful they have 3 days or so respite from the bad weather on its way in, hope they can successfully put enough breaks around it to start containing it.

I *REALLY* wish I could have been out this weekend for the smokey sunsets. I'm cooped up at work all day every day. However, I did manage to grab my boss's camera and grab a few of the sunset through our office windows. They aren't great, but they are better than nothing!
