Im on my second MKIV (the first was faulty and needed to be returned) but Im having real difficulty in getting a shake free image on the MKIV. Im meant to be shooting the FIA GT next weekend and Im not looking forward to it.

Has anyone else had any issues? Canon have a statement on line that says the following:
EOS-1D Mark IV – faster shutter speed needs
As the resolution of cameras increases, and pixel sizes decrease, you may find that there is a need to use faster shutter speeds. The smaller pixels in cameras mean that any slight subject movement during the exposure is more likely to show up as subject blur – this is because it doesn’t have to move as far to affect more pixels. To avoid this just use a faster shutter speed than you would previously have done. For example, if you previously used 1/500sec, you could now try using 1/1000sec or faster.
So how am I supposed to achieve motion blur in the cars wheels?

A very 'interesting' problem that I'd not really thought of before. I'm only on the Mk III so it doesn't affect me but I hope someone else can give you some support.

Good luck with it next weekend, I'll be there on the Friday if only to scope out the new section of track.

Is this a joke?

Jon, I dont joke, this was a statement from Canon on their CPN website!! I have shot with the camera at the FIA GT series and I am satisfied that it will not be an issue. I can post some shots if you wish. Theyre not as pretty as yours ;). BTW I have a PM that I dont have permission to read?

motion blur in a given span of time doesn't ever change with differen size/resolution. But you man *notice* more motion blur in very high resolution images that you don't notice in low resolution images.

That said, forget about what Canon says, probably only applies if you are moving from your cell phone, to a Mk4. :D I think Canon is referring to subtle motion, not something moving very fast like a wheel of a car. Just think of it like a panning shot of a car, at web-resolution the body may look tack sharp, but look at the original full size images and it may not be sharp at all.

Is Canon trying to talk its way out of another 1D series faux pas?

Kevin, did you try shooting with a tripod on a static subject? I don't get it. If you move the camera the same amount regardless of the resolution, the image should produce the same results. You might want to try sRAW just to see if the quality changes. That negates the "resolution" statement Canon claims, I think.
