national spot for Hyundai we just finished at Sway Studio.
I did the lighting, materials/shaders, and rendering on the vehicle, I built 2 of the robots, and did some work on the environments. Pretty quick schedule, but it turned out good looking.
The press release:

.mov footage and some stills:

here are two stills of the vehicle. The camera angles/moves aren't done by me, personally I would have shot the vehicle different, but thats not my job :)

Ditto! WOW! Had you not said they were renders, I would have been hard pressed to prove otherwise.

I just saw the commercial on TV. Pretty cool commercial overall, especially given the time constraints
Had you not told me that the car was rendered I probably would not have thought to look to see if it was, but I think the car looks pretty fake, especially in the penultimate shot and when the car is driving away. ( it was more noticeable to me on the tv screen than the computer)
On the other hand, I doubt Joe public is looking to see if it is rendered, so no one would notice ;)
I spent three days shooting the Santa Fe ( a real live one) for Hyundais press kit, know the car somewhat intimately LOL

time is always a factor in our work, which I hate! I belive we had about 6 weeks to do this (maybe a bit more), and alot of time is always taken up by previs, designs, pleasing the clients, and other stuff. I sometimes wish that we could have like 3-4 months to work on a commercial! But I guess that would be way to expensive for something only 30 seconds long. :-\ Alot of times we feel just lucky to have finished the work and have it look decent. :-( That part sucks the artist right out of me :-(
I wish I would have been able to see the car in person, all we get is pictures, haha! What part of the car catches your eye the most Morgan? Just curious, we do a fair ammount of cars and I'd love to hear what aspect of the car looks off, from a car photographers point of view! Is it something you can point out, or just a general feel of the car blending to the environment? To me it all looks super fake, because I stare at it till the wee hours of the morning for a few weeks straight till my eyes are red. haha!
Oh, it looks like the site has run out of bandwidth, oops!

Daniel-
I saw it recently. The fakest (is that a word) shot is the at the end where it is heading out the door. It looks pasted into the scene.
There was a CTS spot that looked l ike they accifdentally ran the animatic instead of the final output...you don't have anything to do with that, I hope...

nope, the only caddy spot we have done is the 'marching drums' spot, that aired for last years superbowl (it actually might still be airing, I think)

Check the Chevrolet website tomorrow, our new silverado spot is supposed to be posted up there tomorrow. I'll post a link when it's live. :-)

Pretty neat work Daneil. I had the opprotunity to tour the HMMA Plant in Montgomery, AL 2 weeks ago, while attending a LL Class for Hyundai. It is amazing to see the robots work.
