I thought I'd post this in case you guys aren't aware of it already...

I've used the Facebook plugin in Aperture 3 since it came out, and everything has been fine until I suddenly notice a new link embedded in each photo page "Download High Resolution".. I think, 'Hmm, this is interesting.'.. I download one of my images and it's nearly in full-res!!! (2048x)

Aperture apparently gives Facebook a 2/3rd size file to upload.. I guess the change happened around October (luckily, I haven't uploaded many galleries since).. But after finding out, I immediately disabled the ones that I did..

I'm now back to manually uploading photos to a gallery - the safe way, with watermarks, etc.

Just thought I'd give you guys a heads up, as it certainly caught me by surprise!

Yep... real eye opener, that one.

It's ridiculous.... both Facebook and the Aperture Plugin. But in fairness to the plugin, it was designed around Facebook resizing everything to a default size. Now Facebook comes along and decides, "won't hi-res be fun?" Well, not if you're a photographer.

Hopefully the plug-in will get an update with sizing and watermark add ons.

there's something to be said for doing things manually instead of relying on someone elses automation :-)
