I've been reading a lot of the critiques since I joined the forum and have already learned a lot from the feedback others have received. I'm eager to take my photo skills to a higher level of polish and would appreciate anyone's comments - whether harsh or kind - concerning a few of my shots.

Feel free to offer your own interpretation of what makes a good photo, but I'm especially curious about technical qualities (light, composition, shadows, reflections, etc.). One of these photos has only basic PhotoShop color adjustment, while the other has been manipulated to remove a background object.

Now, let's see if I can figure out how to work the "add photos" feature...

Brad,

So glad to see you post some images. Though I am the least skilled photographer on this site, I must say that the critique process has helped me grow leaps and bounds over the past year in terms of quality and eye. No worries about harsh critiques here either unless you just WANT to get flamed. In that case, just tell Jimmy that you photoshop your pitures, or tell Morgan that his work is substandard and you will get all of the flaming you might desire.

You have a couple of nice photos here. I like the image of the LR3 the best due to the drivers expression. For a field shot that appears not to have been "set up" I see good lighting, color, focus and DOF. There is an obvious clone job to the outboard side of the standing gentleman's leg. What was there?

The Mustang picture has a few problems with reflections and from a compositional standpoint I might have taken one small step to my left. The front of the car looks a bit soft and dark and the wheels need a bit of work.

Keep in mind that I am the b-team water boy apprentice around here when taking my critique into consideration. Again, welcome to the Team, and please post more of your work

Tiny,

Hey. Thanks for the input. Only this morning, when I couldn't sleep, did I decide to remove the half of a person standing behind the guy next to the Land Rover. I had intended to post it "as was" but realized that PhotoShop is not a dirty word on this site. Now that I've had a nap, I can see the transporter beam shimmer is more obvious than I could detect earlier. (Never PhotoShop when you should be sleeping!)

I've seen some of your posted photos, and I agree with Mike about the quality of your work.

I'm going to be in Vegas in December for a road trip/vacation/photo shoot. I've been to Vegas a lot for fun, but have never scouted locations for car photography. Any favorites you would care to share?

There are many places to shoot depending on what you are trying to accomplish. I have a great high end car place and lots of cool off road places to go. Your best result would be for you to contact one of our Professional members who works out here, Jason Jenkins. He runs Turn One out here and can give you way better help than I can. If you are in town, drop me a line and I will show you where I go.
