I'm shooting for a publication at an NHRA race in a couple weeks. I'd like to maximize my exposure and profitability by shooting for as many media outlets as possible. I've been searching NHRA related websites and publications to sell my photos to cold call/email. Any suggestions as to who to goto and/or who to avoid? Any other suggestions as to revenue streams for the event?

you might want to check the contractual obligations of your pass AND your agreements between your clients. i know double dipping is not allowed shooting for the wire as I do. just be careful i guess.

How would you decide who gets what? Or do you just let everybody have access to the same shots. (or captures as the newbies say  )

You better get approval from the publication that is getting you your credentials that its ok to sell to others as well. Pubs tend to want to have the photos of their photographers on assignment for them to themselves.

ask around at the event, see who's there first of all. Also, speak to the teams / sponsors and see if they might be in need of some pics. they might give you the contact info for publications that they are working with...

Excellent point. I have already cleared that with my publication.

In the instances that they just want general event coverage, I'd submit different images to each media outlet. If they wanted specific types of shots or drivers, then I'd submit those to only the outlet that requested it.

Excellent idea. I definitely plan on pinging teams and sponsors for images. Thanks for the suggestion.
