eh... doesn't quite work for me. Great location, great idea, but to me, there's parts of the car that are too dark.

[QUOTE=... there's parts of the car that are too dark.[/QUOTE]

It's a night shot it's spozed to be dark:cool: , in fact to me the front end lower black piece is a wee bit too light (at least on my monitor) Don't be afraid of shadows, they give the car some shape.

I just don't know about that big white hotspot on the door...

Are you looking at it on a Laptop Mike? On my laptop it is way too light for some reason, but on my calibrated desktop monitor it is pretty dark, with just a hint of detail in the front and bottom of the car

I was watching a very dark moody CSI right before I started working on it, and got inspired.

Actually, it is a terrible location with very little thought put into at all, I just rolled the car about ten feet out of my back alley garage, it was a bit of a lighting test

Mofe-

OK OK I'll recalibrate everything...sheeesh. When I crank down the brightness it looks better.

I'm looking at it on my CRT snd the 23 CD. My laptop is far from calibrated.

It's still too light on your CRT?

On my laptop for some reason, all the shadow areas look hazy and muddy, but on my Lacie monitor it looks good. I can't figure it out because the before shot looks good on my laptop.

OK, I may have fixed it ( I did not do save for web this time)
Is that any better?

Yes, mucho better on CD23 and on Mr. ViewSonic. I guess I don't have to re-calibrate

Hmmmm... now it got too dark for me. I'm on a brand new 23 Apple Studio Display and a brand new MacBook Pro with the glossy screen Looks identical on a both.... and a bit too dark. The original was more of a twilight shot with low sun barely penetrating the shadows and supplemented by the garage and porch lights.

Now... it looks to be lit only by the porch and garage lights.... if that was the intention, I like my idea better. LOL

It's still cool though.

Morgan- I like this, but I think it looks sort of fake-ish. I think its because of the shallow DoF, it makes the car look like it was placed into the background.

Well, i can't keep changing it to fit everyones monitor/browser choices. On my laptop (PBG4) both versions look crappy, but the original looks just the way I want it on my G5.

BTW, the whole scene was lit by studio strobe

Didn't you see that in the terms and conditions when you signed up here? :D

I liked the original first, just dark enough to make it interesting. The second version loses the front of the car in the shadows. Good idea, good work, and I think you did well the first time.

Actually, there is no first or second time, I changed nothing except how it was compressed for the web ;)

Nor should you... just make sure it looks good on mine and we don't have a problem.

Well slap mah butt and call me Charlie. I guess there is a 'user interpretation' parameter that changes between viewing a photo on a calibrated monitor under the influence of Captain and Coke versus viewing the photo on a calibrated monitor under the influence of a lousy nights sleep and four cups of coffee. :D

I like it but the lower front fasica looks a little out of place to me. Feels like it should be darker. Other than that I think it looks darn good considering the lighting conditions.

There's a big white spot on the door. Izzat bird stuff?

No, seriously, I like the mood of it. Like a warm fall night in Tuscany, the car begging me to take it out.
