Here's a little question for you guys. When someone refers to post ______ do you think:

a) Processing
b) Production

Me: I think production, just like in film/movie making. You go through the process of producing the images then you process it. So, to me at least, any work done during the capture is production then any work in photoshop is post (after) production.

Wouldn't that make post processing redundant? Of course there isn't really a wrong answer, just preference.

I think you do it post production... the the act is processing to me. So, you are doing "post production processing". Maybe that is why everyone just says "post"?

To me, I'm processing. And, since it's after the production I'm post processing. :)

Post processing, for when I am simply editing images for minimum clarity. Post production when I am involved in more heavy prep or artwork with the photos.

at work (dealing with 3d rendered elements) anything that is done after the 3d element is rendered, is called "post", we don't call it post production or post processing. Post to me means anything done after the initial capture (or render) from cropping, to white balance, to grading the image with the colors and contrast you want, or whatever else needs to happen after the initial image is presented. Post being the final touches to the image.

I've always referred to it as post processing since I'm 'processing" (albeit digitally) the photos after I shoot it. :)
