I have a shoot that just came up for next week, for some reason I think there might be a cool location in 'the OC'

What we don't want...rural, residential
What we do want...concrete, metal, urban-y but not ghetto

Vehicle is a 'crossover' targeted to a post-hipster cool guy.

The locations that Mark shot the BMW 5 and the 300 C are similar towhat we are looking for...
I will be scouting over the weekend, but I don't really know Orange Cty very well, and would like some starting points.....

You may want to head towards the Irvine area... there are quite a few business parks. I don't really remember seeing anything that stood-out to me (but that was 3 years ago)... but the rent-a-cops may not be the best to deal with. Given that Irvine is one of the safest cities in the US, the police have nothing better to do than harass photographers (and other people too).

The shot that I always wanted to get was to have the car in front of the big blimp hanger at the Tustin Marine Corps Air Station (http://www.militarymuseum.org/MCASTustin.html):

I've heard that getting on the base to shoot is "impossible", but there is ALWAYS a (legal) way to get something to happen (and it appears that several Hollywood movies have in the past).

Todd,

That's not a bad idea.I think the base is closed now and is or was in the process of turning multi use.
I visited the hanger/museum in Tillamook Wash a couple years ago. There are still a few of these left along both coasts. I'll check it out. Thanks for the tip.

Depends on how much, if any, Mike can shell out for a location. You can do almaost anything if you've got the money.

there are several places right around the valley view exit off of the 5 freeway, at the very north tip of orange county. If you drive through there, you'll know what i'm talking about.

if you get lucky, you can get permission from the metal recycling place right in that area. I've tried twice, but i keep missing the supervisor who has the 'ability'.
