A friend of a friend contacted me looking for a photographer to shoot his car and a model (model will be provided), location is in Napa California (just north of San Francisco). My schedule doesn't allow for me to travel this far for a shoot (I'm in Los Angeles) as shooting isn't my day job. Pictures will be for personal use and non-commercial internet display as far as I know. (he mentioned posting on my-space and car club forums) so I dont think he is interested in prints or full-res files. Possibly leading to more shoots later on with different cars and/or models.
He wants a location shoot (not an indoor studio shoot) Not sure if he want's scenery in the background, buildings, or what. He's open to suggestions for a location. Looking to shoot sometime in the next few months. Sounds like his schedule will be flexable.
I'm not sure what his budget is, but since it's non-comercial I would assume that he is on a somewhat limited budget.
I'd rather not give out his phone number publicly, since I don't really know him. If you are interested in shooting this, PM me, email me, or just reply here and I'll PM you to give you his name and phone number.

IMO >
Anything that involves that awful MySpace (or any of those tacky web "friend" sites) and photography should be avoided like the plague.
Even if it is a a paying job. .You're going to hate what happens to your work and where it ends up.
...as someones "friend"
Gawd I hope their server centre self implodes and is gone for good one day. The end of MySpace or Friendster or any other of those cheap tacky - so called - websites cannot come quick enough. Total cack.
RUN AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!
Andrew
(To edit: Daniel, I'm not knocking your kindness in sharing a job opportunity - just the fact that if anyone is serious about their work they really really want to stay as far away from MySpace as possible)

I wouldn't go that far... one person's opinion doesn't speak for everyone (even if it's Mr. Wheeler).
Well, I wouldn't mind tagging along to get access to the car (depending on what it was... I need a cool car to shoot for this month's assignment anyhow). I wouldn't necessarily want to put the time/effort into setting-up the whole thing (location scouting, car prep, etc.)... I just don't see much of a return out of it.

I'll shoot it for $1500 day rate plus expenses. Have him call me.
(Andrew.... that is the appropriate way to filter work. Qualify the client via professional pricing.) :)

If she's smokin' hot I'll match Morgan's $1495 and use cheaper stuff to undercut him on expenses:p

Good one! Like it...
It's still MySpace though. Did I mention I hate that place?

I'll do it for $1505 plus expenses. It will be worth the extra $5-$10 bucks for him to not have to deal with Thawley or Morgan. :D

Sorry the thread went sideways, Daniel. However, my quote was, in fact, serious. I don't know if that's in his price range or what he's looking for... but that is what I would shoot it for. Please know it was presented as a viable option.
