I'm looking for a solution for the Mac for keeping my books in better order than my current Excel spreadsheets do. (This year has been a big growth year so it's really the first time I'm tackling much revenue.)
Quick Books 2007 for Mac is only for newer Macs (I'm on 10.3.9 on a 350 mhz G4 so I can't upgrade much).
Anyone used MYOB lately? Or other solutions?

I've been using the older quickbooks for Mac but I have been told that MYOB is better, especially for Mac. My wife uses it and likes it, but I have no experience with it.
That was not much help was it? :)

I use FotoBiz, www.cradoc.com and really like it. Its a little clunky at first, but it does a TON.
It is geared toward photography, so in addition to doing things like keeping client lists, invoicing, receivables, and running those kinds of reports for tax purposes, it will also keep track of all your equipment and insurance on them, you can create a stock photo database if you want, it will create contracts, it makes it really easy to put usage rights in the invoices, it has a product database that you can put all your products and usages into so creating invoices are a click away, you can create estimates and proposals, then convert those to invoices if you get the job, and its also bundled with FotoQuote as well.
Its really nice and once you get used to it, is quite easy to use. It even has tips for negotiating and sealing deals.
The only downside is the invoices that print out are a little limited in what you can make them look like. You can add all your info and even your logo to it, which is cool, but I had been using a layout I created before using Excel, so I still use that to actually send to clients since I like the layout better, but its great to have it all recorded in FB for when I need to look anything up or run a report at the end of the year for tax purposes.

I've been using MYOB for several years. I like it. Though I only really use the invoicing and receivables portion. I like the statements and invoice it generates and I do all my billing via emailed PDFs through the program. So it works well for me.

I've downloaded the Trial version of MYOB FirstEdge (the $99 package)...I'm having to relearn the two quarters I took of accounting in college though to get going with it. I'll post results when the trial is up...but it looks like it will cover what I need it to do.
