I think it's a great feature on the site but I think that it should be beefed up to 820 pixels rather than 800 pixels. I've seen quite a few 800x600 photos on this site and they look kind of weird because they're being resized becuase they just hit the limit.
well just a little site suggestion. :)

The size is set to 740. Regardless, exactly what looks "weird" about them? They're resized proportionately...
The bottom lines is, though, we put a lot of work into getting the site and the forum looking the way a looks. The site actually resides on two different servers and I was insistant the look & feel be seamless from page to page. (ask Zerin about the infamous 1 pixel bum.)
The page width is built to a standard 760 page width. This avoids scrolling side to side what a browser is set to the default size. I know a lot of us run high-res and large screens (I run 1920x1200 on a 23" Apple Studio Display), but the fact remains that you build do display at 800x600 resolution. However, you have to take in to account the "chrome" on a browser widnow: toolbars, scroll bars etc. So... 760 is the defacto standard. Hint, opent a freshly installed web browser and watch was size it opens at. I assure you, it will sit in the middle of your screen at 800x600.
So, the bottom line is anything wider than 740 will break the page and cause all the content to shift and have people scrolling left to right.
Either way, the sizing script does not effect the image quality.
Make sense?
Thanks,
John

It's great that they resize. You can tell the difference though because the image becomes pixelated. Maybe it's hard to see it on a very high resolution like yours but there is a difference. It's great though that the site does it automatically so the site stays uniform looking.

Don't forget, if you click on the resized image, it will pull up a full sized one in a seperate window.
